All of the controversial aspects of the assassination of President Kennedy are examined in these three critical reports: the original Warren Commission report, the report of the Select Committee on Assassinations of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1979, and the Assassination Records Review Board report of 1998.
Warren Commission: Appointed by President Johnson after the assassination, The Commission reviewed reports by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, Department of State, and the Attorney General of Texas, and then requested additional information from federal agencies, Congressional committees, and state and local experts. The Commission held hearings and took the testimony of 552 witnesses. On several occasions, the Commission went to Dallas to visit the scene of the assassination and other places. The Commission presented its Report, in which each member concurred, to the President on September 24, 1964.
Select Committee: The House Select Committee on Assassinations was established in September 1976 by House Resolution 1540, 94th Congress, 2d Session. The resolution authorized a 12-member select committee to conduct a full and complete investigation of the circumstances surrounding the deaths of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The committee was constituted for the four remaining months of the 94th Congress. This report presents the committee's analysis and synthesis of the evidence the committee obtained on all four issues the committee deemed necessary to fulfill its mandate. The committee issues this report to fulfill its legislative and informing responsibilities under the Constitution.
Assassination Records Review Board: This panel was formed as a result of the 1992 President John F. Kennedy Records Collection Act. "The Review Board has worked hard to obtain all records relating to the assassination of President Kennedy and to release the records to the fullest extent possible to the American people. The Board and its staff have contributed significant professional and personal time to this important effort. We have done so in the hope that release of these records will shed new evidentiary light on the assassination of President Kennedy, enrich the historical understanding of that tragic moment in American history, and help restore public confidence in the government's handling of the assassination and its aftermath. The Review Board's Final Report is unanimous. It summarizes the Board's experience in interpreting and applying this unique way to provide broad access to government records. Most importantly, it illuminates the Review Board's legacy—the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection at the National Archives." Contents: Chapter 1: The Problem of Secrecy and the Solution of the JFK Act * Chapter 2: Establishment of the Review Board and Definition of "Assassination Record" * Chapter 3: Public Activities of the Assassination Records Review Board * Chapter 4: Developing the Review Process * Chapter 5: The Standards for Review: Review Board "Common Law" * Chapter 6, Part I: The Quest for Additional Information and Records in Federal Government Offices * Chapter 6, Part II: Clarifying the Federal Record on the Zapruder Film and the Medical and Ballistics Evidence * Chapter 7: Pursuit of Records and Information from Non-Federal Sources * Chapter 8: Compliance with JFK Act by Government Offices

Essential.
By Steve Duffy.
Finally the texts of all three investigations for one cheap price.
Both the Warren Commision findings and the HSCA report have been available on Kindle but were badly formatted and unreadable. Glad to see this is fixed. The ARRB is a bonus...as it is also available seperately.
Bargain..glad to have them all at a touch.

Not Based On Original Material
By Alan Dale Daniel
As a historian I like to access the original source materials for events. Statements, letters, photographs and more from the actual event, or people who were there and wrote or spoke about the event very shortly after it happened, are fascinating and the most useful material for evaluating what occurred. The Warren Commission Report, and those that followed, should have included a massive amount of original material; however, they do not.
The major problem with the Warren Commission Report is the lack of a complete record. The photographs taken at the scene and seized by the government should have all been included - every one of them, but they were not. Photographs taken during medical procedures should have been preserved and included, but they were not. Statements taken at the scene of the assassination by law enforcement from witnesses - all of them - should have been included, but were not. In fact, the original negatives and the actual police reports and witnesses statements should have been preserved with diligence and included in the reports, and preserved in archives, but they were not.
What is included is often bogus. For example, statements from witnesses under oath at the Commission hearings are all but worthless. Why? Because no one was there to cross examine the witnesses. The result, only information sought by the government was included because the questions that may have led to other inquiries were not asked. The lack of competent cross examination (or any cross examination) of the witnesses is critical to understanding what was lost with these "investigations."
The lack of cross examination of expert witnesses is another critical omission. No one put the experts to any kind of test to ascertain how sound their opinions were. As such, their opinions are useless.
Also, no one was at the hearings calling witness to challenge the government's assertions. No one called experts that disagreed with the government's opinions or witnesses who observed or heard something different than the government's witnesses. This is absolutely essential if one is going to reach the truth. But no such witnesses were called because there was no opposing side.
Remember Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth? When the movie was to be shown in England it was challenged and an actual trial took place where the ideas in the movie could be rebuffed by experts and witnesses that disagreed with the "facts" and opinions rendered in the movie. The result: the moved was held by the judge to be pure propaganda without foundation in fact and it could not be shown in English schools as a factual documentary. The key was the movie was opened up to examination by opponents. In other words, the experts were cross examined and their ideas failed under pressure. The "facts" were shown to be false and other facts were shown to be more reliable. That is what needed to happen in the Kennedy assassination, but it never did.
As time has moved on the "facts" in the Kennedy assassination have disappeared. The photographs and negatives have been lost, the President's brain tissue lost, witness statements lost or never taken, physical evidence such as the rifle found in the book depository has been tampered with or mishandled, statements by Oswald during police interrogation were never recorded and notes taken were lost, the tracking of the rifle shells recovered in the book depository has been muddled, and on and on. The physical evidence has been lost or destroyed or never gathered, the witnesses are dead or extremely old, and the archives themselves seem to have not been well protected. Many original witness statements seem to have been lost.
Thus, the Warren Commission Report, and those official reports and investigations that followed, do NOT preserve the original evidence and in fact cause the entire assassination to be viewed in a false light. The reports do not contain original physical and documentary evidence and statements that would be admissible in a court of law. What is not included or not said is often more important than what was said. These reports fall short of giving us what historians would label as reliable evidence.
Nonetheless, these reports are there and are useful as historical documents in and of themselves. Reading them is tiresome and in some ways irksome, but that is the job of the historian. Read what is there and look at photographs or paintings or drawings and evaluate their usefulness for reaching facts about the event in question. Unfortunately, these reports fog more than they reveal.
