On her day job, Maddie continues to work her strange and twisting investigation. At night, she is increasingly taken with the most unusual and fascinating man she has ever known—Ryan Testler. On his day job, Ryan carries out his latest mission in his usual over-the-line style. Along the way, the sparks between Maddie and Ryan get hotter and hotter while they struggle to resolve their conflicting views on justice and whether the end can justify the means.

Awful dialogue, sudden ending

After reading all of the glowing reviews this author received, I was surprised to find his prose so awkward. Here is a segment of dialogue from the first page of the book:
"Come in, mother. It's open."
"My God, Paige. You're drinking wine. It's eight-thirty in the morning. What's wrong? On the phone you sounded all in a panic. By the way, your yard looks wonderful. Did you hire that gardener I told you about last month?"
"Yes, Mother. Yes. I hired your gardener. Damn it ... I didn't call you to talk about ... screw the friggin flowers, Mother."
"Relax, Paige. Relax. Nothing is worth getting in such a dither. Sit down. I'll get you some coffee. Oh, I see you've already made some. So, the bottle has not completely replaced the bean in your mornings. Whatever it is, dear, together we'll find a solution. We always do. I'm always here to do what must be done."
The author also likes awkwardly constructed sentences which contain supporting clauses not set off by commas. I was jolted completely out of the story time and again by having to reread a sentence to get the author's meaning. I read a lot and I easily get into a story so I'm not used to having to start and stop just to figure out how a sentence ought to be punctuated to make it understandable.
Lastly, I was not convinced by the love interest part of the story - I couldn't see what made the lovers attracted to one another, except that they said they were attracted.

Death of a Bankster

If you like David Bishops thrillers, you'll love this one. Maddie Richards, Homicide Detective uses her connections and problem solving skills to track down the perpetrator of the Death of the Bankster. A bankster is a banker that is a gangster. Anyhow, someone killed one of these guys! (Should more be on the list?) But, is there an ulterior motive for the demise of this character. Has he been skimming a little off the top? Not only is he a Bankster, he's a womanizer that has no problem being unfaithful to his wife, who has always been faithful to him. Anyhow, the US Information Services, the FBI, CIA and the Phoenix Police Dept all coordinate their resources to figure out who the murderer is. Maddie has time to make sure her love life and family life are not secondary to her excellent police work. This is a very well written book and is very much worth your time..

Bad writing and chauvinistic

I can't believe the good reviews of this author. Maybe the are all men? Because it's so very obvious that these books are written by a man. His sexual descriptions are exactly what a guy would say; though he has female characters calling their breasts funbags. Oh there is much more, but that just stuck in my mind. In short, the writing is poor and juvenile. Couldn't get past all of it, including poor grammar. Just no.
