GOOD MOUNTAIN STORY

I liked this mountain story because it is not only about strong compassionate men, but teaches a lot about how they lived in the mountains. It is not just about the men who first occupied the mountains, but how they learned to share them with the first Americans, Indians.
As with most mountain man stories, the only mention of gold was in the last part.
There just wasn't much I didn't like about the book 'Red Runs the Plains.'

Red Ron the Plain

It hurts my heart to know some of what is told of the treatment of the Indians actually happened. This book has many twists and turns but the focus of working toward a common end and the relationships that are created for a lifetime are fascinating to read thru. A guy can sit and read and feel the cold wind blowing on his cheeks and understand how the training and sharing life's experiences bound these men to each other.

I love the Mountain Man series by William Johnstone and hated it when he was no longer writing. I have waited years to find someone who was just as good as Mr Johnstone was. I found him!! Mr Benton knows how to paint the life of a Mountain Man. You can smell the blood and smoke. You can feel the pain they endure. Dang, this is a great day. Thanks Mr Benton and Thank you for your service.
